Moonwalk 3

Continuing on down the Moonwalk from the Nachez, we chanced upon a fireboat that was moored along the wharf on the Mississippi near the Central Business District.

The Canal Street Ferry runs between Algiers Point to the foot of Canal Street in the CBD, not far from Harrah’s Casino. The fare is just a dollar for cars heading to the East Bank; free going to Algiers. Walk-on passengers are free, and there is seating available as well as some good photo opportunities, as you can see of the skyline pictures below of New Orleans’ Central Business District, taken from the stern (the back to all of your land lubbers!). It’s known as “downtown” to some of the tourists.

Dear Guests: We have worked very hard on this site in hopes that it will educate, inform, and entertain. All donations are appreciated, once we get our tip jar back up, but if you can’t do that, please donate a little of your time to signing the guestbook below and let us know what you think. As always, we appreciate your comments. Thanks, Gil Davis -- Jay Barrymore
