The Garden District

In what appears to be a normal neighborhood, this house definitely stands alone. And yes, it really is painted purple. It’s The House of Death, a portrait studio dedicated to the Angel of Death, Azrael. A must see while you’re in New Orleans. It’s located at 5219 Magazine St. in the Garden District. For directions or information, call them at (504) 899-3077.

Here is a streetcar on Carrollton Ave, as it cruises along the Garden District. Incidentally, the streetcars typically travel down the median between the opposite flows of traffic. They must watch for pedestrians, as well as observe traffic signals and speed limits just like regular auto traffic..

Dear Guests: We have worked very hard on this site in hopes that it will educate, inform, and entertain. All donations are appreciated, once we get our tip jar back up, but if you can’t do that, please donate a little of your time to signing the guestbook below and let us know what you think. As always, we appreciate your comments. Thanks, Gil Davis -- Jay Barrymore
